Roann, a native of Southern California, embarked on a remarkable journey when she joined the United States Air Force in 1999. As a dedicated career aviator, she devoted 18 years of service to special operations, demonstrating unwavering commitment to her country. Roann, an Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom veteran displayed extraordinary valor by completing seven tours in support of the Global War on Terror.
In 2014, Roann relocated to Pennsylvania, where she continued to serve until her honorable medical retirement in 2022, concluding a distinguished 22-year military career.
Despite facing various physical injuries and Combat-related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Roann has emerged as a resilient advocate for veterans' well-being.
Her post-military life is marked by a deep commitment to supporting her fellow veterans. Roann channels her experiences into meaningful action, advocating for mental health awareness, social networking, and assisting with benefits through the Veterans Administration. She serves as a healing arts instructor with Mission Warriors, an Ambassador and mentor for the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program, and a Squad Leader with PGA HOPE Philadelphia, a section of PGA Reach. Roann's outstanding achievements include earning the William H Tunner award, Volunteer of the year, Combat Action Medal and numerous medals at the 2019 Department of Defense Warrior Games, including Gold in golf, showcasing her indomitable spirit.
Despite her personal challenges, Roann remains dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of military service members worldwide. Recently, she has expressed a strong desire to contribute to the ongoing struggle in Ukraine, leveraging her skills and experience in any way possible. In this pursuit, Roann has chosen the Borderlands Foundation as the conduit for the healing power of golf. She seeks your generosity to support Ukraine's heroes, demonstrating the resilience and compassion that defines her character. Your contribution will not only aid Roann in her mission but will also uplift the spirits of those facing adversity on the front lines.
Roann's journey from Southern California to the global stage of military service and her subsequent commitment to veterans' advocacy make her a true inspiration. As she continues her mission to support Ukraine and its heroes, your support becomes a vital part of this noble cause.
