Vladyslav Shapiro and Natalka Proskura

We, Vladyslav Shapiro and Natalka Proskura, are representing Ukrainian Cultural Initiative at the Borderlands Charity Golf Tournament to support Ukrainian and American military veterans. We are both mathematicians, born in Kyiv, and currently live near Boston. Ukrainian Cultural Initiative was founded to support artists and humanitarian projects in Ukraine and to make the American community aware of Ukrainian artists achievements, thus introducing the country Americans support.

When the full-scale war began, we took part in the rally in support of Ukraine held in Boston, with more than 100,000 participants.

We presented at meetings with American communities, talking about Ukraine, its peculiarities, the origins of the war, and especially about the need for American support for Ukraine. In this case, aesthetic means were very helpful. In February 2023 we organized a small exhibition of Ukrainian artists’ works at Trinity Church, Boston. In September 2023, in Bedford, MA, at the initiative of the First Parish of Bedford community, we held an exhibition to show the wide range of Ukrainian art.

One of our goals is collecting money for veteran’s art therapy. Our friend, one of the founders of the chaplaincy movement in Ukraine, confirmed the effectiveness of art projects for veterans. Your support of our participation in the Borderlands Charity Golf Tournament will contribute to possibilities involving psychologists and artists in the creation and development of rehabilitation program for veterans. To step into our role as ambassadors in this pivotal golf tournament, we need to raise $15,000. We invite you to be a part of this empowering journey. No donation is too small, each contribution brings us one step closer to achieving our humanitarian goals.
